Afghan Minister Dr. Qalandar Ibad along with Afghan Charge d’ affairs Sardar Shakib & other officials visit AICC at FATA House Islamabad


ISLAMABAD, Nov 19, (SABAH): Doctor Qalandar Ibad, Afghan Minister for Public Health along with Afghan Charge d’ affairs Sardar Shakib and other officials visited Afghanistan Inter Ministerial Coordination Cell (AICC) at FATA House Islamabad on Saturday where they met Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, Special Representative for Afghanistan, Doctor Mohammad Shoaib Shafi, President College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan and other Govt officials.

The delegations from both sides discussed cooperation being extended by Pakistan in the health care for brotherly Afghan people. Pakistan apprised the Afghan delegation on financial support being provided for functioning of the three Pakistan-built hospitals in Afghanistan including installation of equipment and provision of medicines. Pakistan also briefed the delegation on efforts in hand for running of the aforesaid hospitals, establishment of medical campuses and training of Afghan Doctors/ Staff.

A ceremony on exchange of notes regarding training offer of Afghan Doctors by Ministry of Health through College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan was also held. Pakistan will train 20 Afghan Doctors on annual basis for five years in different hospitals in Pakistan through a laid down procedure.

Doctor Qalandar Ibad thanked the Government of Pakistan for sincere humanitarian efforts and gearing up the Afghan health care system to avert a human catastrophe at this time of need. Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq assured full support to Afghan delegation and desired to work together towards shared objectives of peace and cordial relations for betterment of the people.
