Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan appoints Muhammad Suhail Shaheen as its Ambassador to Doha
KABUL, Jan 08 (SABAH): Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan has appointed Muhammad Suhail Shaheen as its Ambassador to Doha.
Muhammad Suhail Shaheen, who previously served as the head of the Taliban’s Doha Political Office, also served as the position of chief spokesman for the Taliban. He was previously nominated as the Islamic Emirate’s permanent representative to the United Nations but due to the American sanctions he could not resume his responsibilities.
Notably, Suhail Shaheen played a significant role in the Doha peace talks along with Mullah Abdul Ghani Brother, which were pivotal in shaping Afghanistan’s recent diplomatic landscape.
Muhammad Suhail Shaheen had served a diplomat in Pakistan during the Taliban previous government. Muhammad Suhail Shaheen had served as press attaché with ex-ambassador to Pakistan Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef and also served as deputy ambassador.
