Adjournment motion regarding elections in Senate has no worth: Liaqat Baloch

KARACHI, Jan 8 (SABAH): Central Vice Emir Jamaat-e-Islami and former parliamentary leader Liaqat Baloch has said that adjournment motion regarding elections in Senate has no worth.

Liaqat Baloch expressed these views while addressing electoral meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh and talking to media persons on Monday. Provincial Emir Muhammad Hussain Mehnti, General Secretary Kashif Saeed Sheikh, Secretary Information Mujahid Channa and other office-bearers were also present on this occasion. Liaqat Baloch said tricks of adjourning the general elections are being played once again for maintaining ideological disorder in the society and that the powerful segments could manage the elections as per their own will.

He said timely, free, fair and transparent elections is the solution of country’s all crisis including economic and political crisis, adding Jamaat-e-Islami wanted free and fair elections in the country on February 8 for which activities have been started. All the parties together should fail conspiracies against Constitution and democracy in the Senate, he added.

He further advised the political parties should make democracy and people the source of their power instead of taking support of the establishment, adding no one can give the rule in this way. In Sindh, tickets of provincial and National Assembly seats have been issued. Liaqat Baloch further said that Jamaat-e-Islami is contesting elections according to its manifesto and election symbol; however, seat adjustment option is open.

Former ruling parties have no manifesto, he said and added they could not deliver despite the fact they came into power once and again. He said the former ruling parties could not face the people while Jamaat-e-Islami is a single political party which is free of heredity wherein elections are held for leadership of any stage. He stressed upon the office-bearers to instantly deliver this message to the nation that it has tested all the parties, adding now “Solution is only Jamaat-e-Islami”.
