Active participation of the private sector in provision of high standard health care to patients is a good omen: PM Shehbaz


LAHORE, May 08 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated state-of-the-art Saleem Memorial Trust Hospital in Lahore on Sunday.

He was briefed by the hospital’s management about the facilities available at the hospital, including treatment facilities for cancer, heart diseases and dialysis and CT Scan. He went to the various departments of the hospital.

Saleem Memorial Trust Hospital will provide world class medical treatment facilities to the poor and needy.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Saleem Memorial Trust Hospital in Lahore, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has praised generous philanthropists on setting up a modernly equipped world class hospital in the private sector in Lahore, which will also provide free of cost medical treatment to poor and deserving people as well.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to those who took part in this noble cause saying they will be rewarded with Allah’s blessings and millions of patients will be benefited at this Hospital in future.

PM Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that active participation of the private sector in provision of high standard health care to patients is a good omen. He said that the provision of facilities of free treatment to deserving patients and needy is a great humanitarian effort.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said “I believe that the generous people who have donated to establish this hospital have earned [a place in] heaven in this world and in the hereafter.”

He said that this hospital will serve the aggrieved. He said that the machinery, equipment for radiology, oncology, treatment for cardiac diseases and all other arrangements at the hospital are world class.

He thanked all the doctors who have come from Pakistan and abroad to serve under the hospital.

The premier said that those who can afford the treatment would pay the entire expense for the medical facilities at the hospital and people in need would be given free or partly free of cost treatment through cross subsidy or donation funds.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the PML-N had established Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) following the same anology and invested billions of rupees in the project.

He said that when he inaugurated the PKLI in May 2018, five transplant surgeries had already been performed at the hospital.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that PML-N government brought doctors and experts from all over the world for PKLI but all of them were chased away when the government changed.

“Tens of thousands of families should have benefited from the PKLI but “dirty politics kept this project in the cold room (morgue) for two years and brought it to a grinding halt,” he said.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the donations and funds are the money of the poor. “This is the money of this poor nation and we have to think for the nation beyond personal interests to serve them.”

While concluding his speech, the premier requested Mian Mansha to establish one such hospital each for four provinces of Pakistan. He said the 220 million population of Pakistan would remember him till the end if he opens the gates of his treasures in their service.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to take emergency measures in view of the destruction caused by a glacial lake outburst flood from the Shisper glacier in Gilgit-Baltistan.

He instructed to save lives and properties of the people and their shifting to safer places.

The Prime Minister also ordered to provide food, medicines, and the required emergency equipment to the affected areas. He directed federal government institutions to extend every possible assistance and cooperation to the government of Gilgit-Baltistan. He also sought report about the losses and the affected people.

Shehbaz Sharif advised to prepare an alternative road due to destruction of the Hassanabad bridge on the Karakoram Highway. He also advised to prepare estimate regarding destruction of irrigation and drinking water system as well as two affected power houses.

The Prime Minister ordered restoration of power houses of 700 and 250 megawatts on war footing basis. He said the Federal Government will bear the expenditure to be incurred on the restoration and maintenance of these power houses. Besides, he sought report on the damage inflicted on Karakoram Highway.

The Prime Minister assured that the government will take all possible measures to provide emergency assistance to the affected people and their restoration. He also expressed sympathy and sorrow with the affected people over the losses.

Meanwhile in his message on the International Mothers’ Day, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that mother is not just a person; she is an emotion, a reservoir of love and an embodiment of sacrifice and selflessness. In a statement issued on twitter, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the words just can’t capture the depth of motherliness. No matter how old one grows, her loving arms and presence can ease your worries, he said. May Allah bless all the mothers, he said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said there is no one more sincere than a mother, who is a place of solace in every pain. He said Allah Almighty introduced Himself through mother and placed the paradise beneath her feet. He said serving the mother is in fact a testimony to the character of a human being. Let’s make our world and thereafter better by serving mothers.

Shehbaz Sharif said mother’s love, encouragement, and prays always play a vital role behind the success of every individual including him.

He said we also salute the mothers of Palestine and the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, whose sons were martyred. On this day, we salute the mothers of our martyrs, who laid their lives for the honor and dignity of the motherland. We present tribute to great mothers like Dr. Ruth Pfau, who led a fight against leprosy for 55 years.

The Prime Minister also paid rich tribute to Bilquis Edhi for playing a role of the mother of the entire society. He prayed the Almighty Allah to keep the souls of all mothers, including his own one, in heaven. He said it was his mother, who had taught us Islam, Quran, humility, love for the Prophet [Peace Be Upon Him] and Pakistan as well as courage to face difficulties.

Shehbaz Sharif said whatever he is today is due to the prayers and training of his brave father and devout mother. He urged the people to serve their mothers because this relationship is an intimate and great connection.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has prayed for the early recovery and complete health of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

In a tweet on Sunday, he said the entire Pakistani nation prays for the good health of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
