Acting President Gillani, PM Shehbaz, Acting Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan & armed forces felicitate the nation on Youm-e-Takbeer
ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI May 28 (SABAH): Acting President Makhdoom Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Acting Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCsSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and Services Chiefs have felicitated the nation on the observance of the 26th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer.
In his message on the day, Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has reiterated the resolve to continue working towards a peaceful and stable world. He said, on this day, we successfully demonstrated our nuclear capabilities and joined the ranks of nuclear powers.
The Acting President said that Youm-e-Takbeer serves as a testament to our nation’s resilience, unwavering determination, and commitment to maintaining regional peace and stability.
He said Pakistan, as a responsible nuclear state, firmly believes in the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
Congratulating the nation on Youm-e-Takbeer in his message on social media platform X, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the day symbolizes the collective effort of all facets of national power.
The Prime Minister said on this day, the entire nation vowed for the integrity of this country that no compromise will be made by accepting any kind of external pressure on country’s defense.
He said Youm-e-Takbeer is a day to pay tribute to the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistan Army’s initiative to make country’s defense impregnable.
The Prime Minister also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and scientists for their role in initiating and continuing Pakistan’s nuclear programme.
Meanwhile in his message on the occasion of Youm e Takbeer Acting Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan today, as we celebrate the 26th anniversary of Youm e Takbeer, we honor a pivotal moment in our nation’s history. On 28th May 1998, under the courageous leadership of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan conducted its nuclear tests, affirming our sovereignty and securing our defense.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s unwavering resolve in the face of immense international pressure showcased his remarkable bravery and leadership. His steadfast decision ensured the safety and balance of power in our region, making Pakistan a formidable nuclear power.
“We also pay tribute to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, whose visionary leadership laid the foundation of Pakistan’s nuclear program. His foresight and determination set the course for our nation’s defense capabilities and sovereignty” the acting chairman senate said.
Furthermore, we recognize our dedicated scientists and engineers whose relentless efforts made this achievement possible. Their hard work and dedication have been instrumental in establishing Pakistan as a secure and sovereign state, he said.

Meanwhile Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and Services Chiefs on behalf of The Armed Forces of Pakistan, extended warm felicitations to the nation on the 26th anniversary of “Youm-e-Takbeer”.
According to a statement issued by the ISPR, this momentous occasion commemorates the historic achievement of Pakistan’s nuclear tests in 1998, which successfully established credible minimum deterrence and restored the balance of power in the region.
The Armed Forces and the nation pay tribute to the unwavering dedication and selfless sacrifices of all those who contributed to this remarkable feat, achieved against overwhelming odds. The scientists, engineers, and officials who devoted their lives to realizing this dream rightly deserve the gratitude and admiration of the nation and its Armed Forces.
“On this important day in Pakistan’s history, the Armed Forces of Pakistan reaffirm their unwavering resolve to defend the motherland, protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ensure the nation’s security at all times and at any cost, InshaAllah. Pakistan Zindabad!” the statement concluded.
