Accountability Court acquits Ishaq Dar, others in assets beyond means case
ISLAMABAD, Oct 23 (SABAH): An accountability court acquitted former finance minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and other accused in assets beyond means reference on Monday.
Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir announced the reserved verdict. During the hearing, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Prosecutor Afzal Qureshi said that no substantial evidence was found against Muhammad Ishaq Dar.
Judge Muhammad Bashir asked the accountability watchdog to provide the same in writing and that if they no objection on his acquittal.
NAB prosecutor further argued that they talk on the basis of merit and the court should announce its decision. The judge further said that if they provide all the record then the court will announce the verdict. To this the NAB presented the written record before the court.
Afterward arguments were continued and finally the court acquitted the former minister for finance. The court said that they have no objection on the acquittal of the former minister for finance and other accused.
It is worth mentioning here that on October 18, Judge Bashir reserved the verdict after both parties completed arguments on the plea of the accused on the court’s jurisdiction on the assets beyond means case against Dar and others.
