Abdul Akbar Chitrali demands from govt to send Finance Bill to CII
ISLAMABAD, June 25 (SABAH): Jamaat e Islami MNA Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali on Sunday demanded from the government to send the Finance Bill to the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) with a view of taking its input, whereas the rest of the MNAs opposed taking opinion of the CII.
National Assembly’s session held with speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in the chair. Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali stressed upon the government to send the Finance Bill to the CII to take its opinion with respect to Islamic perspectives.
He further said that the finance bill was based on the interest-based system and by approving it, the government was going against the decision of the Federal Shariah court to abolish it. Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali said the Federal Shariah Court has given the verdict to end the interest.
Acknowledging the decision of the Federal Sharia Court, the government has also withdrawn the two petitions filed in favor of interest from the Supreme Court, he said.
“Now interest is included in the finance bill, so if the opinion of the Islamic Ideological Council is not taken on it, it will be a violation of the decision of the Federal Shariat Court,” Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali said.
The speaker held voting to send the Finance Bill to the Islamic Ideological Council for opinion. The anti-usury government ally JUI also opposed sending the finance bill to the Council of Islamic Ideology. Government coalition parties and opposition parties also opposed sending the Finance Bill to the CII.
Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali, the member of Jamaat-e-Islami, voted in favor of sending the Finance Bill to the CII. The National Assembly unanimously opposed the motion to send the Finance Bill to the Council of Islamic Ideology.
