Aafia Movement Pakistan appeals the nation & prayer leaders for special prayers in Ramadan for early release of Dr. Aafia

KARACHI, Mar 29 (SABAH): Aafia Movement Pakistan has appealed the nation and prayer leaders for special prayers in the ongoing holy month of Ramadan for early release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Aafia Movement Spokesman Muhammad Ayub said that March 30, 2003 was the black day in the history of Pakistan when innocent Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was kidnapped along with her three minor children, trafficked to Afghanistan and illegally handed over to the officials of the USA. He said that two decades have already passed to this shameful act of human trafficking and illegal detention of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui but no justice is as yet doled out to this innocent victim of human trafficking. He said the silence of Pakistani and US political leadership to this inhuman crime is just more shameful. He said during the last two decades Dr. Aafia has endured the worst torture in the US detention facilities.

He said in January 2023, noted British human rights lawyer Clive Safford Smith, who is an American citizen also, met with Dr. Aafia and as per his report the physical and mental health of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is worrisome.

He said the political and economic conditions of Pakistan have worried every citizen. In these circumstances, Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui and other members of Aafia family have put aside all other things and they just want repartition of Aafia to Pakistan so that the blemish of ‘daughter sellers’ could be removed from the face of the Pakistani nation.

He said during last two decades Pakistan has seen 12 prime ministers from Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali to Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, but still many opportunities to seek release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui were just wasted.

However, Aafia Movement Pakistan leader and noted neurophysician of the country Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui has appealed the religious scholars and prayer leaders for special prayers especially during Friday prayers for early release and repartition of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
