A grand Jirga should be formed immediately regarding Parachinar, Jamaat-e-Islami is ready to provide services: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

KARACHI, Nov 22 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that the very sad and brutal incident of Parachinar is the failure of the government and law enforcement agencies and the anti-national forces want to divide the people on the basis of language and ethnicity, who want to create chaos and weaken the country. He said it is the responsibility of the government to bring everyone together to find a solution to the problem.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Idarah Noor-e-Haq along with the town chairmen of Jamaat-e-Islami.

On this occasion, General Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh Muhammad Yousuf, Emir Karachi Munim Zafar Khan, Deputy Emir Karachi Raja Arif Sultan, Town Chairman Gulshan Iqbal, Dr. Fawad, Town Chairman Liaqatabad Faraz Haseeb, Town Chairman Jinnah Town Rizwan Abdul Sami, Model Town Chairman Zafar Ahmed Khan, Town Chairman North Nazimabad Atif Ali Khan, Town Chairman Gulberg Nusratullah, Deputy Parliamentary Leader City Council Qazi Sadruddin, Secretary Information Karachi Zahid Askari and others were also present.

Emir Jamaat-e-Islami said, “We demand that a Grand Jirga should be formed immediately regarding Parachinar,” adding Jamaat-e-Islami is ready to offer its services in this regard, as done by Jamaat-e-Islami provincial emir and former senator Prof. Ibrahim in some places in the southern districts, and people have got relief as a result. Pakistan and Afghanistan should revisit their policy and solve the problems together, he added.

He said the local general secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami in Bajaur was a victim of target killing, adding it is the responsibility of the government and institutions to bridge the gap between the army and the people.

Instead of a fake winter package, the government should give real relief to the public for heavy electricity bills, talk to the IPPs and resolve the issues quickly, he said and suggested the government to impose tax on the big landlords instead of the common farmer, the salaried class. Tax slab of salaried class and petroleum levy should be reduced, he stressed. In order to give an Islamic touch to the 26th constitutional amendment, a clause related to usury has been added, he lamented.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said both the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have destroyed Karachi, adding the Sindh government of the People’s Party has taken over the entire local government system and institutions. He said that town chairmen have no powers. Despite all this, the Jamaat-e-Islami would continue its services, he reiterated.
