99% people of PML-N including him aren’t in favour of electoral alliance or seat adjustment with any party in Punjab: Javed Latif

ISLAMABAD, July 23 (SABAH): Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Federal Minister Mian Javed Latif has said that 99 percent people of the party including him were not in favour of electoral alliance or seat adjustment with any party in Punjab.

Mian Javed Latif expressed these views during in an interview with a private TV channel. He further said that former prime minister and PML-N supremo Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would run party election’s drive and added that he [Nawaz Sharif] would be a candidate of premiership on behalf of the PML-N. “Not a single voice is there in the party who favours anybody else for premiership so he is God-willing going to be premier of the country for the fourth time,” he added.

He remarked, “There is no one in the favour of extending tenure of the assembly. No one could even think in this regard as we throughout the life have struggled for the supremacy of law and Constitution. It is up to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold elections within 90 or 55 or 40 days as it is independent. In the world, Election Commissions are independent and they hold elections independently.”

“In 2002, 2008 and 2018, we contested elections in the absence of our leadership and despite all the barbaric and cruel acts, we won elections in Punjab in 2018 but they were not allowed to form government in the province,” he recalled.

Mian Javed Latif made it clear, “All of us would have to accept any decision made by Nawaz Sharif through in connection with the name for the chief minister of Punjab consultation with the party’s leaders.”

He further said, “We are not supposed to flee from the polls but it is totally unjustified to not allow a party to freely contest elections while another party which is demanding holding of elections despite the fact it was accused of foreign funding, decision on the matter has not been delivered during 11 years. All cases of corruption are pending against it.” He said one who forged cypher and tried to befool the whole nation which damaged the State up to an extreme level must be held accountable and added it was not possible to hide all of his crimes.

 Mian Javed Latif maintained that a State, State institutions and the whole nation was waiting for September that subsequent to this, decisions would start to take place in favour of State or the people would have an access to justice. “It is very poisonous when a nation is disappointed with an access to justice,” he added.
