88% of Pakistanis declared they were proud to call themselves Pakistanis: Gallup Survey

ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (SABAH): According to a survey conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 88% of Pakistanis declared they were proud to call themselves Pakistanis, women more likely to feel as such (91%).

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the country was asked the question, “How proud do you feel to call yourself Pakistani?”. In response, 73% said ‘Very proud’, 15% said ‘Somewhat proud’, 6% said ‘No pride’, and 6% said they ‘Feel ashamed’.

Women were slightly more likely to express pride in their identity as Pakistanis (91%), compared to their male counterparts (85%).

Both urban and rural residents shared similar sentiments regarding pride in their identity as Pakistanis.

The study in Pakistan was conducted and released by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 824 men and women in urban and rural areas of all four provinces of the country, conducted from 6th August – 9th September 2024. The error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 percent at the 95% confidence level. The methodology used for data collection was telephonic surveys (CATI).
