Journalist Panel secures big victory in NPC elections 2025-26 while securing all three big seats including President, Secretary & Finance Secretary
ISLAMABAD, March 18 (SABAH): Journalist Panel has secured big victory in National Press Club elections 2025-26 while securing all three big seats including President, Secretary and Finance Secretary.
Journalist Panel candidate Azhar Jatoi Khan has won the President NPC seat while securing 1090 votes while defeating his opponent Azad Journalist Panel candidate Shakil Qarar, who secured 654 votes. Meanwhile Journalist Panel candidate Nayyar Ali won the seat of Secretary NPC while securing 1063 votes. The Azad Journalist Panel candidate for Secretary NPC Dr. Furqan Rao secured 715 votes. Meanwhile Journalist Panel candidate Waqqar Abbasi secured victory on Finance Secretary seat while securing 1065 votes. Azad Journalist Panel candidate for Finance Secretary Harmeet Singh secured 695 votes. Turnout in thee elections remained 60-8 percent.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar Advocate has said the government firmly believes in the freedom of press and freedom of expression.
In a statement, Attaullah Tarar felicitated the newly elected office bearers of National Press Club, Islamabad.
The Information Minister said the journalist community is a vital pillar of the country. He said the press club is a strong voice for journalists and it plays a prominent role in advocating for journalists’ rights, freedom of expression and professional development.
Attaullah Tarar expressed the confidence that the newly elected office bearers will play a positive role for the welfare of journalists, freedom of the press and the national interest.
The Information Minister said the government will continue to provide all possible support to resolve journalists’ issues, enhance their professional skills and promote freedom of the press.
Meanwhile Secretary Information Ambreen Jan and Press Information Officer (PIO) Mubashir Hasan have also felicitated the newly elected office bearers of National Press Club.
In her statement, the Secretary Information expressed the confidence that the newly elected office bearers will take effective steps for the welfare of journalists and the development of the media.
The Press Information Officer said promoting free, responsible and fact based journalism is need of the hour in the light of the challenges of modern era. He said we are confident that the National Press Club will uphold its outstanding traditions in this regard.
