There exists no distinction b/w the so-called democratic govts & martial law witnessed by the nation since independence: Sirajul Haq

CHINIOT, Nov 24 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has said that there exists no distinction between the so-called democratic governments and the martial law witnessed by the nation since independence, as both have perpetuated the status quo.

Speaking at a public gathering in Chiniot on Friday, Sirajul Haq contended that past governments in the country merely extended the policies of the British colonial system.

He emphasized that the ruling elite engages in the plunder of resources, leaving the masses deprived of basic facilities. Inflation, unemployment, and poverty, he said, are the undesirable consequences inflicted upon the people by the rulers. He accused the leaders of prioritizing personal interests over the nation’s welfare, citing their role in crippling the economy and burdening the country with foreign debts.

Sirajul Haq urged the nation to take charge of the country’s future and break free from the shackles of the corrupt system through the power of the vote in the upcoming February 8 elections. He underscored that the struggle against the corrupt system and its proponents represents a formidable endeavor for the greater good.

The JI leader said the Muslim rulers played the role of silent spectators in the face of the tragic loss of children’s lives in Gaza.

He said the history would forever remember the passive stance adopted by the governments of the Islamic world in response to Israeli atrocities. He also questioned the silence of the Pakistani rulers and the leaders of mainstream parties on Palestine, saying the fear of US was the main reason behind their silence.

JI Emir Punjab central Javed Kasuri also spoke on occasion. A large number of women also participated in the rally. The JI Emir would address public rally in Pakpattan on Saturday and afterward lead a two-day road karwan in southern Punjab.
