234 persons died, 248 injured in the result of recent floods in Afghanistan: Muhammad Suhail Shaheen
KABUL, May 12 (SABAH): Head, Political Office Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), Doha, Qatar Muhammad Suhail Shaheen has said that as a result of the recent floods in Afghanistan in 10 districts of Baghlan province which is situated in the north of the country, a total of 5996 families have been affected, 3995 families among them faced complete damage and 2001 families partial.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Mohammad Suhail Shaheen said that 234 persons have died in the floods and 248 persons have received injuries. 9160 heads of animals have died while 19070 acres of land have been washed away.
The relevant authorities are working to provide urgent assistance. In view of the huge damage, more assistance is needed, Mohammad Suhail Shaheen said.
