23 passengers died as a passenger bus fell into a deep ravine in Palandri area of AJK
SADHNOTI, Nov 03 (SABAH): At least 23 passengers were killed and eight others seriously wounded when a passenger bus fell into a deep ravine at Manjiari area of Palandi in district Sadhnoti of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
According to the details, the passenger bus fell into a deep ravine at Manjiari area of Palandari on the way to Rawalpindi from Baloch Bhaitak Awan Abad. In the result of the accident 23 people died on the spot including three children and four women.
The killed persons have been identified as Abdul Hussain son of Jumma Khan resident of Baloch, Abdul Kareem son of Lal Din resident of Dakot, Muhammad Jameel son of Faqeer Muhammad resident of Yothi Kalar Karant, Abdul Kareem son of Sohbat Ali resident of Khani Bhata Kot, Naila wife of Muhammad Ikhlaq resident of Bhata Kot, Mahira daughter of Muhammad Ikhlaq resident of Bhata Kot, Muhammad Jameel son of Faqeer Muhammad resident of Gala Gant, Muhammad Hazoor son of Maqsood Ali resident Gam Kotli, Muhammad Shafi son of Feroz Din resident of Berot, Nazir Ahmed son of Sajawal resident of Iran Dhara, Haroon son of Muhammad Azam resident of Pahari Hajra, Muhammad Safeer son of Gul Hussain resident Rajua (conductor), Rukhsana Khanum wife of Rehmantullah resident of Dhak, Umar Bashir son of Muhammad Bashir resident of Kanjri, Abida wife of Muhammad Mustafa resident of Kanjri, Noreen wife of Muhammad Mustafa resident of Kanrji, Mujtaba son of Muhammad Mustafa, Rasheeda Begum widow of Muhammad Younus resident of Khawamal, Hafiz Adnan Tariq son of Tariq Mahmood resident of Attock (currently working as mudaras Masjid Gala Gant), Barkat Jan wife of Muhammad Sharif resident of Kameer and Zubaida Kausar wife of Safeer Ahmed resident of Kanjri.
Locals and rescue workers reached on the spot and shifted the injured and dead bodies to Kotli district hospital. The condition of four to five passengers is also critical.
President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry and Prime Minister AJK Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan Niazi have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in the accident. Both President and PM AJK have prayed higher status in heaven for the departed souls and courage for the heirs to bear this irreparable loss. They have also directed the concerned officials to provide best medical facilities to the injured persons.
