PM Shehbaz orders complete ban on export of sugar


ISLAMABAD/LAHORE, May 09 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has imposed ban on export of sugar in order to stabilize price of the commodity in the country. 

According to the Prime Minister Office, the Prime Minister has directed for first meeting the demand of people and stabilizing the price of sugar.

Shehbaz Sharif also ordered for taking stringent measures against smuggling of the commodity.

He directed for sternly dealing with hoarders, illegal profiteers and the elements involved in creating artificial shortage of sugar.

The Prime Minister asked the departments concerned to keep him informed about implementation of his orders. The officer concerned and staff will be held accountable for any negligence.

“Given the domestic demand, I have ordered a complete ban on the export of sugar. There will be a strict action against smuggling & hoarding. Absolutely zero tolerance for those found negligent in their duties” PM Shehbaz Sharif tweeted.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed for preparing a comprehensive strategy to effectively address the economic challenges for public benefits.

Talking to Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr. Miftah Ismail Ahmed in Lahore on Monday, he asked for making special arrangements to ensure provision of essential commodities to people at low rates. The Prime Minister also emphasized on simplifying banking system for economic welfare of the common man.
