Asad Qaiser writes letter to Shehbaz Sharif seeking consensus on mega reforms in national interest
ISLAMABAD, Nov 12 (SABAH): Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has proposed that both Treasury and Opposition should proceed for inclusive decision making and building up consensus above the party politics on all mega reforms of common interest in the wider national interest.
In a letter to the Leader of the Opposition Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, seeking his role to revive the consultation process through Committee on Legislative Business, the Speaker said a Committee on Legislative Business was constituted with consensus between the Government and Opposition on various Bills. However, this consultation process has not been completed by the committee.
He said various bills including the Elections (Amendment) Bills 2021 passed by the National Assembly but not passed by the Senate in the stipulated time are set to be considered in the Joint Sitting of Parliament. Speaker Asad Qaiser wrote it is desired that you may play your role to make this process meaningful.
“I assure you that my office will facilitate the Government and the Opposition in creating a consensus on the above Bills” Speaker NA Asad Qaiser concluded.
