Overall law & order situation in Balochistan is satisfactory: PM Shehbaz


QUETTA/ISLAMABAD, April 23 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that overall law and order situation in Balochistan is satisfactory.

He stated this while chairing a high level review meeting regarding law and order situation in Balochistan on Saturday. The meeting was briefed about the law and order situation in the province.

Addressing the participants of the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif added that the federal government will extend all possible assistance to the provincial government for ensuring peace and stability in Balochistan.

The Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) President Sardar Muhammad Akhtar Jan Mengal, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry, Maualan Asad Mahmood and high ranking officers attended the meeting.  

Meanwhile Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo in Quetta on Saturday.

During the meeting they discussed matters pertaining to development projects in Balochistan including law and order situation. The Chief Minister also briefed the Prime Minister regarding important provincial matters.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister said the federal government gives highest importance to the development of Balochistan.

Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on a day-long visit. Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Acting Governor Balochistan Mir jan Muhammad Jamali and high ranking officers received him at the airport.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says democratic institutions in Pakistan can only be further strengthened by ensuring supremacy of the Constitution. Talking to MNA Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha in Islamabad on Saturday, he said all stakeholders must work together to strengthen democratic institutions and welfare of the people.

Issues pertaining to strong democracy and economic development of Pakistan came under discussion during the meeting.

Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha expressed hope that the Prime Minister would ensure speedy development in the federal capital as it was seen in Punjab under his leadership as Chief Minister Punjab.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed concern over resurfacing of a polio virus case in the country after a period of 15 months.

Summoning a report from the authorities concerned, the Prime Minister directed for formulation of strategy to eradicate the crippling disease from the country.

The Prime Minister also summoned a meeting of the National Task Force for Polio Eradication on Monday.
