Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif elected as 23rd PM of Pakistan while securing 174 votes


ISLAMABAD, April 11 (SABAH): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has been elected as 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan while securing 174 votes.

The voting for the leader of the house was held in the National Assembly on Monday.

Announcing the results, Presiding Officer Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said Shehbaz Sharif secured 174 votes. No vote was polled in favor of Vice Chairman of PTI Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Earlier, taking the floor, Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced to boycott the election to the leader of the house. He said the decision to this effect was taken in a party meeting chaired by Chairman Imran Khan. On behalf of the PTI members, he also announced resignations from the National Assembly.
