Industrialists & traders were the backbone of our economy & govt will provide all kind of assistance to business community: President Alvi 


KOTRI, Nov 11 (SABAH): President Dr. Arif Alvi on Thursday called for promotion of information technology (IT) industry in the country to strengthen sustainable economic growth.

Addressing the reception arranged by Jamshoro Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCC&I) at Chamber’s office, President Dr. Arif Alvi said despite global pandemic of COVID-19, country’s economy had witnessed growth due to the better planning of the incumbent government. President Dr. Arif Alvi said due to the policy of smart lockdown, economy had sustained the effects of the pandemic.

Imran Khan was the first Prime Minister who refused to impose complete lockdown to save people from starvation during coronavirus outbreak, President Alvi said and added that government’s timely decision saved our economy from major set back and world had recognized our efforts to face the situation.

President Alvi said industrialists and traders were the backbone of our economy and government will provide all kind of assistance to the business community. He stressed the need of skill development of the young generation especially women as world needs trained workforce to be employed. He called for promotion of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as this sector contributes 70% share in country’s industrial production.

President Dr. Arif Alvi advised the industrialists and investors to engage dumb people in industrial jobs as they could work very hard to boost the industrial production like they were doing in Thal Engineering, a Karachi bases industry.

He called for skill development of visually as well as hearing impaired people so that they could become useful citizens. President said the businessmen were the tax payers but majority of our population was not paying taxes due to which our country was under economical restraints. He called on industrialists of Jamshoro and Hyderabad to introduce Pakistani Brand and take full benefit of the ease of doing business.

He stressed on business community to do export oriented business for which government will provide all opportunities to them.

President Alvi said trade and business community was paying taxes regularly but tax net should be expanded for sustainable economical growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said PTI government always supported business community and will continue to do so in future as strong economy could save future of the nation.

Governor said Pakistan had never witnessed economical growth during last 30 years as it had achieved during last three years due to PTI government’s pragmatic policies.

In response of the demands presented by the office bearers of Jamshoro Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Governor said one Fire Tender would be provided to JCC&I and demand for their representation in the Board of Directors of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) and the SSGC would also be raised at relevant forums.

He assured that all issues of the business community would be resolved at the earliest.

Earlier, JCC&I President Khalil Baloch presented welcome speech and patron in chief Mian Touqir Tarique presented chartered of demands for development of business and trade community of interior Sindh.

They said JCC&I was one of the largest chamber of commerce after KCCI as it representing business community of Nooriabad and other cities of interior Sindh.

The leader of opposition in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh, PTI leader Pir Zaman Shah Jillani, Commissioner Hyderabad Muhammad Abass Baloch, DIG Sharjeel Kharal, DC Jamshoro Fareeduddin Mustafa, MD SITE Munawar Hussain Mahesar, SSP Jamshoro and others were also present in the reception.
