Over one million people sign mercy petition for release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui

KARACHI, Jan 12 (SABAH): More than one million people have signed the mercy petition to the US president for release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. As per details, Aafia Movement leader and noted neurophysician of the country Dr Fowzia Siddiqui had appealed the people to send mercy petition to the outgoing US President for releasing Aafia Siddiqui on humanitarian grounds. Every outgoing US President has the power to grant mercy to prisoners as per the US law.

Dr Fowzia Siddiqui thanked the supporters of Dr Aafia for achieving the target of one million signatures. “We did it! Over one million signatures for Aafia’s freedom.”

She said: I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for each and every one of you who signed, shared, and prayed for Aafia’s release. Your unwavering support has given support and the will to continue.

Dr Fowzia Siddiqui; however, said that this journey isn’t over yet. “We still need your help to bring Aafia home. Please continue signing, sharing, and praying for her freedom, pray that your efforts bear fruit, and that we end this brutal injustice. I am sure if our petition gets to President Biden and he has the slightest of humanity, compassion, and sense of fairness, he will let Aafia go.”

She said that the merit of her case is so strong. However, that is the hurdle. Please keep amplifying my and Aafia Movement’s voice until our beloved Aafia is back with her family, said Dr Fowzia Siddiqui.

“Let us pray Our Lord paves our path and guides us and softens the hearts of the oppressors and wills it in President Biden’s’ heart to do the right thing.”

She urged the people to continue this drive till January 16 and also pray for Dr Aafia Siddiqui. She hoped that with the grace of Allah, the Almighty, Aafia Siddiqui would soon be released and rejoins family.

Once again thanking the supporters of Aafia, she said: Together, we will make a difference! Inn shaa Allah. You have given me the pride to tell the oppressors I am not alone but over a million great people stand by my side. Jazak Allah khair.
