Pakistan & Iran vow to increase cooperation in combating extremism & promoting interfaith harmony

ISLAMABAD, Dec 18 (SABAH): Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Amiri Moghadam on Wednesday called on Federal Minister of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Chaudhry Salik Hussain.

During the meeting, various proposals were discussed regarding the growing trend of religious intolerance around the world, the elimination of terrorism and sectarianism, establishing peace, and promoting interfaith harmony. Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain stated that today Muslim countries are facing challenges and conditions that necessitate the promotion of religious harmony, tolerance, and unity. There is an urgent need for dialogue between religions and cultures to establish peace in the world. The attitude of tolerance and respect is an essential part of Islamic teachings. Pakistan and Iran should work together to promote religious harmony, peace, and tolerance in the world through interfaith and intercultural dialogue. The meeting agreed to further enhance economic, trade, and cultural relations between Pakistan and Iran.

Iranian Ambassador Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam invited Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain to participate in the upcoming International Quran Conference to be held in Iran the next month, mentioning that Pakistan and Iran face the threats of terrorism, and it is necessary to prepare a joint action plan to counter it. The meeting concluded with an agreement to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Iran in eliminating extremism and promoting interfaith harmony.
