DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar says army has nothing to do with current political situation of country
RAWALPINDI, April 03 (SABAH): Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar said on Sunday said that the army had nothing to do with the political developments in the country.
Speaking to a private TV channel, DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar in response to a question said that the institution has nothing to do with the current situation.
When contacted for comment on the political situation in the country, he told that the organization had nothing to do with the situation.
Major General Babar Iftikhar said that the Pakistan Army stands by law and constitution.
While talking to another private TV channel, DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar replying to a question regarding the involvement of the Army in the political developments of the day, bluntly denied any sort of involvement and said: “absolutely not”.
It may be recalled that the no-confidence motion submitted by the opposition against Prime Minister Imran Khan was rejected by the Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri before the vote in the National Assembly on Sunday.
After the motion was rejected by the Deputy Speaker, the Prime Minister had sent a proposal to the President to dissolve the National Assembly. The President Dr. Arif Alvi, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, approved the dissolution of National Assembly.
