Chauhdry Sarwar accepts Usman Buzdar’s resignation as CM Punjab
LAHORE, April 01 (SABAH): Amid ongoing political turmoil, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muahmmad Sarwar has accepted Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Umsan Ahmed Khan Buzdar’s resignation on Friday.
The development comes after Usman Buzdar was invited to the Governor House as a routine procedure for confirmation of the resignation letter.
Meanwhile Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has summoned Punjab Assembly session in Lahore today (Saturday) at 11:00 AM in the morning to elect a new Chief Minister. A notification has been issued in this regard.
Earlier, the Governor Punjab also held meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan to seek final permission regarding issuance of notification pertaining to acceptance of the chief minister’s resignation.
PM Imran Khan instructed the governor of Punjab regarding Buzdar’s resignation after he briefed the premier about his meeting with the outgoing CM.
Sarwar also informed the premier about his meeting with the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Pervaiz Elahi and informed him of the number game ahead of the voting on the no-confidence motion on April 3.
On March 28, Buzdar had tendered his resignation after the joint Opposition submitted a no-confidence motion against him in the Punjab Assembly.
