On world HR Day, DFP seeks world attention towards simmering situation in IOK 


SRINAGAR, Dec 09 (SABAH): Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has sought the international community’s urgent attention towards the dire political and human rights situation in the Indian occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statement issued on the eve of world human rights day, the DFP Spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal said that it was quite unfortunate that the world celebrates human rights day with great pomp and show but Kashmiris continue to bleed under India’s bellegerent military occupation for the past 76 years.

He said the Kashmiri people have been struggling for the realization of their inalienable right, the to self determination, for the past seven decades, but instead of honoring its pledges and creating a congenial environment to implementation the UN resolutions, India had waged a war against innocent and unarmed civilians in Kashmir. He said that India has broken all records of barbarism and brutalities in Kashmir to stifle the Kashmiris’ legitimate political aspirations. Along with brutal slaughter of Kashmiri youth, the spokesman said that enforced disappearances, Extra-Judicial executions and arbitrary arrests and detentions of political and civil rights activists continue unabated in the region.

He said that thousands of Kashmiris’ have been arrested before and after August 2019 continue to languish in far off prisons out side Kashmir.

Terming the unresolved Kashmir dispute as the main cause and consequence of unrest and rights violations in the region, the DFP spokesman said that an early and amicable settlement of this longstanding dispute was imperative to stop bloodshed in the region.

Given the volatile situation in the region it is imperative that the UN and influential would governments should focus their attention on early settlement of the dispute to save suffering humanity in Kashmir,” he said.
