Abdul Aleem Khan group’s MPAs refuse to vote for Pervaiz Elahi as CM Punjab candidate
LAHORE, Mar 30 (SABAH): After suffering a major setback ahead of the no-confidence motion as its ally MQM-Pakistan decided to part ways and join the Opposition, the ruling PTI suffered another blow at the provincial level as members of the Abdul Aleem Khan group refused to vote for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s nominee for Punjab chief minister — Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
According to a statement issued by Abdul Aleem Khan, the members of the disgruntled group have decided not to cast votes in favour of the PML-Q leader.
Recalling the words PM Imran Khan earlier used for Elahi, the group’s Spokesperson Mian Khalid Mehmood said that for the last four years, the PTI-led government had imposed “useless and a coward” Usman Buzdar as the chief minister and “now they want to appoint Pervaiz Elahi”.
“This is unacceptable,” he said as the two disgruntled groups — Jahangir Tareen group and Aleen Khan group — convened a meeting to review the changing political situation in Punjab.
