Hafiz Naeemur Rehman condemns govt’s tactics of crushing constitutional & democratic rights of people in Islamabad in a cruel way
LAHORE, Nov 28 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman condemned the government’s tactics of crushing the constitutional and democratic rights of the people in Islamabad in a cruel way, restricting the freedom of expression, kidnapping journalists and later imprisoning them in false cases. He said the government installed on the basis of Form 47 has no right to strangle the constitution and democracy and make the country a spectacle.
In a statement issued from Mansoorah, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the false cases against Matiullah Jan and other journalists should be ended and they should be released immediately. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami will not accept the message that the government in Islamabad has actually tried to give to 250 million people by demonstrating fascism.
He said this country was created as a result of people’s struggle and the people are its real heirs. He said that those who are oppressing the people cannot stop the flood of people.
Emir Jamaat-e-Islami said that what happened in Islamabad, these facts are being hidden from the public and freedom of expression is being crushed, adding access to information is a fundamental constitutional right of the people.
“Restricting access to information from hospitals will not hide the facts. It also gives an opportunity to spread rumors among the public and make them think in their own way. He said that the constitution gives every person and political party the right to protest peacefully. He said that the country will develop only when the real representatives of the people come to power,” he said.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that Jamaat-e-Islami is standing by its long-standing demand and wants to bring a government elected by the people on the basis of Form 45 by forming a judicial commission, all political prisoners be released, and the 26th Constitutional Amendment should be annulled.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that instead of obeying the IMF, the government should give relief to the people by reducing the prices of electricity, petrol and food items. He said that the benefit from IPPs contracts should be used to reduce electricity prices. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami will continue the struggle for the rights of the people.
