Freedom can be unchained from the shackles of oppression: Leepa women’s seminar
LEEPA, JEHALM VALLEY: The Women Seminar Titled, The Role of the Kashmir Women: The Future Perspective was organised by the Institute of the Dialogue, Development and Diplomatic Studies, a renowned institution known for its work in promoting dialogue and understanding in conflict zones, in Collaboration with the Post Graduate Degree College- Leepa.
A huge number of Women from Leepa Valley attended the seminar. In the opening remarks, Mr Malik Zaffar, Principal of the Postgraduate Degree College, said that the Leepa valley women had rendered huge sacrifices in the ongoing freedom struggle of the Indian-occupied Kashmir and our daughters understand well the difference between freedom and slavery.
Our daughters know that they need to work hard to prove their worth; her tools are books and pens, which play the role. He emphasised that the women of Indian-occupied Kashmir, particularly those caged in the notorious Tihar Jail Delhi), have emerged as powerful symbols of resilience and leaders in one of the most vulnerable regions in the world.
Caged in the so-called biggest democracy of India, they have snatched the rights of the freedom of expression and the right to life, liberty, and property. Kashmiri women endure daily uncertainties and carry the torch of hope, empowerment, and freedom for their communities.
Prof Fazu r Rehaman paid glowing tribute to the daughters of the Indian illegally occupied Kashmir and said; In this region where geopolitical tensions persist, the role of Kashmiri women becomes all the more significant. These women, often bearing the brunt of conflict, profoundly understand the value of peace and freedom. Their lives, shaped by their proximity to the LoC, underscore their deep-rooted resolve to overcome challenges and inspire others.
Dr Naveed Qurishi shed light on the resilience of the Leepa and the voices for change. He emphasized the importance of women recognizing the value of using their unique experiences to advocate for liberty and justice. These courageous women are not only symbols of survival but also architects of a future where freedom can be unchained from the shackles of oppression. Through their efforts, they aim to inspire movements that echo the universal quest for independence and dignity, empowering us all to stand up for what is right.
Prof. Rakhshanda Said: The role of Kashmiri women in this journey is pivotal, and their stories serve as a testament to their strength and vision. They stand as role models for those across borders, showcasing the power of women to challenge adversity, lead change, and contribute to creating a peaceful and equitable society. Their contributions are invaluable and deserve our utmost respect.
Dr. Waleed said That the movement for the right of self-determination demands fresh and new ideas to advance, such as innovative strategies for advocacy and community engagement, and academia and research are potent fronts. The seminar was attended by huge participation and highlighted the role of women as harbingers of hope in a region that yearns for lasting peace and freedom.
