Conducive business environment, supportive policies & a shared vision can help generate robust economic activity: Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani
ISLAMABAD, Nov 13 (SABAH): Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that a conducive business environment, supportive policies and a shared vision, can help generate robust economic activity. He was addressing a special session at Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Rawalpindi on Wednesday. “Together, we can pave the way for sustainable economic growth that uplifts all segments of society”, he observed.
He said that Pakistan faces significant economic hurdles and these challenges demand both resolve and reform to ensure stability, competitiveness, and inclusivity in our economy.
Chairman Senate said that Parliament remains fully committed to supporting comprehensive socio-economic revival. “Inspired by the spirit of our Charter of Democracy which helped restore democracy, Charter of Economy – a collective, bipartisan effort to stabilize and grow Pakistan’s economy, ensuring policy continuity that fosters confidence for long-term investment”, he proposed.
He also underlined the need to ensure ‘Ease of Doing Business’ by streamlining regulations to attract domestic and foreign investment and focusing on lowering energy cost and financing expenses to improve productivity and competitiveness. He called for reducing imports and promoting export on a war footing for economic revival, while the way forward lies in identifying high-potential industries and expanding access to international markets.
Highlighting the importance of technology, the Chairman Senate further proposed to embracing technology to drive innovation and job creation with a view to remain competitive with rest of the World. He also emphasized to strengthen and expand the scope of Social Safety Nets like Benazir Income Support Programme to protect vulnerable populations as we progress. He, however, recommended continuity of policies to inspire confidence of investors and attract lasting investment.
Gilani urged all stakeholders to join hands for transforming Pakistan’s economy into a resilient and thriving one. He extended heartfelt gratitude to all the businessmen, entrepreneurs, and traders who tirelessly strive to transform this vision into reality. He thanked the RCCI Leadership to organise such an important discussion and hoped for positive outcomes to help boost economy.
