Pakistani police personnel earned respect for their professionalism & devotion to duty under the banner of UN police: Munir Akram
NEW YORK, Nov 03 (SABAH): Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Munir Akram has said that Pakistani police personnel have earned respect for their professionalism and devotion to duty under the banner of UN police.
Addressing a ceremony on UN Police Day in Islamabad on Sunday, Munir Akram said the story of UN peace keeping is incomplete without recognizing the vital contributions of UN police.
Highlighting the significant contribution of Pakistan to the UN missions, he said Pakistan has deployed two hundred and thirty thousand troops over the years in forty six peace keeping missions.
He said Pakistani Police woman Shahzadi Gulfam was the first ever recipient of the International Female Police Keeper Award in 2011.
Munir Akram said Pakistan will continue to play its effective role in enhancing the UN peacekeeping capability.
Speaking on the occasion, Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix acknowledged the important role of Pakistan in global peace. He stressed on enhancing the capability of police to cope with the current challenges.
