National Journalist Conference organized by Palestine Foundation condemns ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza & Lebanon, calls for a ceasefire
ISLAMABAD, Oct 30 (SABAH): In collaboration with the Palestine Foundation, the journalist community organized a National Journalist Conference to express solidarity with Palestine and Lebanon in a local hotel in Islamabad, in which senior journalists, columnists, analysts and anchors expressed their views.
In their speeches, the journalists associated with electronic, print and digital media of Pakistan strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression in Palestine and Lebanon and demanded from the international organizations including the United Nations, OIC, Arab League and European Union that they play their role for the immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon and the complete withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza.
Senior Journalist and Anchorperson Hamid Mir, Senior Columnist Sajjad Azhar, Senior Journalist Iftikhar Shirazi, Senior Journalist Shakeel Qarar, Ali Raza Alvi, Sikh Anchorperson Harmeet Singh, Anchorperson Dr. Sajjad Bukhari, Columnist Prof. Shuzab Askari, Journalist Razi Tahir, Palestine Foundation Secretary General Dr. Sabir Abu Mariam and journalists Sajid Gondal and Nader Baloch spoke.
Senior journalist Hamid Mir said that we are with the people of Palestine following the footsteps of the founder of Pakistan and the people of Pakistan cannot betray Palestine. Senior journalist Iftikhar Shirazi said that the people of Palestine are fighting the war of the entire Muslim Ummah. Anchor person Harmeet Singh said that the problem of Gaza and Lebanon is the problem of humanity, the humanity that is awake inside will openly condemn Netanyahu’s terrorism.
Dr. Saber Abu Mariam said that the people of Gaza are waiting for our help, let our rulers wake up from their sleep and be the voice of the people of Gaza.
The participants and speakers of the conference approved a unanimous resolution stating that we salute and pay tribute to the journalists who are carrying out their journalistic professional responsibilities in Gaza and South Lebanon in particular and in the conflict zones of the Middle East in general and condoles with the families of around 190 journalists who were martyred in the line of duty. In the resolution, martyr Ismail Haniyeh, martyr Syed Hassan Nasrallah, martyr Yahya Sinwar and others were paid tributes.
In the resolution, the government of Pakistan was demanded to provide all possible practical, moral and diplomatic support to the people of Palestine and Lebanon and to stop the process of suppressing the voices raised for Palestine and registering cases of terrorism in Pakistan.
