Kashmir a tinderbox of tension, a single spark could ignite catastrophic conflict: Mushaal Mullick
ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (SABAH): Mushaal Hussein Mullick, wife of jailed senior Hurriyat leader Mohammad Yasin Malik expressed alarm that Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) region remained a tinderbox of tension between Pakistan and India, where any spark could ignite a larger conflict between nuclear-armed nations.
Mushaal Mullick, who is also the Chairperson of Peace and Culture Organisation, said that Kashmiri people on both sides of the Line of Control and around the world would mark Black Day tomorrow (Sunday), to send a powerful message to India and the international community that they vehemently reject New Delhi’s illegal occupation of their homeland.
In her message on Kashmir Black Day, she stated that that the ongoing state terrorism and political injustice being faced by Kashmiris at the hands of the Hindutva regime, posing a serious threat to the identity of IIOJK residents and to peace and stability in the region.
It is pertinent to mention here that Indian brutal troops invaded Jammu and Kashmir in blatant violation of the Partition Plan on October 27, 1947, occupying the region against the will of the Kashmiri people, which was a blatant act of aggression devoid of legal or moral justification, an attack on the political and democratic rights of Kashmiris.
Mushaal Mullick vowed that the resilient people of Kashmir would never accept Indian dominance despite facing all the state brutalities and barbarism.
The Chairperson observed that India’s naked aggression on this fateful day in 1947 was the root cause of the Kashmir conflict, threatening peace and stability in South Asia even after 77 years, adding that this act of aggression not only hindered the implementation of the partition plan but also plunged the region into perpetual chaos. She lamented that the international community and UN bodies adopted double-standard and were total oblivious to Kashmir dispute despite the fact that it was such a sensitive issue that a spark could flare up a full-scale war between Pakistan and India.
Mushaal Mulick urged the world powers to take cognizant of the situation and take practical and tangible steps to implement the UN agreed resolutions so as to settle the decades-old conflict.
