Invasion of October 1947 is a heinous crime: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 25 (SABAH): Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League and ex-Convener All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJ&K Chapter Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has said that aerial military invasion of 27 October, 1947 is an excellent remembered as a grisly act by India on peaceful and unarmed people of Jammu and Kashmir, that not only continues to be a stigma on the face a newly born free India, but it gave birth to many hundred political and economic evils and laid horrible effects on free political and economic life of the State people from one end to other end of Jammu and Kashmir and it’s higher Himalayan parts, whose people were knit by close trade, and cultural ties since olden times.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that invasion and annexation of Jammu, Kashmir Valley and Ladakhs and parts of Poonch District deprived the entire State of their right to freedom and right to gain their independence, for which they had fought a popular fight against a British-sponsored Dogra-Raj dynasty since early 1930 and 22 of their youth had fell as martyrs facing bullets of the Dogra Raj army. He said when India invaded Srinagar, its leaders forgot to have had gained freedom at midnight only a few months back in August 1947. But, the leadership of freedom movement didn’t feel ashamed of their ignominious role. He castigated the role of the last British Governor General of India Lord Mount Batten, who according to some English biographers himself supervised hundred odd aeroplanes boarding arms, ammunition and British-Indian soldiers to occupy the Srinagar aerodrome throughout the fateful night of 26 and 27 October, 1947.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that this one illegal act had made insecure the whole subcontinent and the people of Jammu and Kashmir and plunged the future of millions of Kashmiris in darkness. Although, it was the obligation of the London office to help removing the causes of the Kashmir conflict, but they had failed to do and with the result, India made another Invasion on Kashmir, repealed its Constitutional guarantees and dismembered the Occupied part into the Indian Union. He stated the 2019 brazen amendments in the Constitution of India aimed at changing the majority character of the State to make it a Hindu State. He said that since the 19th century the State of Jammu and Kashmir enjoyed a special status under the permanent State Subject law, which had become the permanent State resident law in 1949, after India granted it a special status by incorporating the Article 370 in the Constitution of India. He alleged that during the last 5 years, India had eroded the cultural and political identity of the State, demolishing political and economic identity of the land of the Kashmiris as was doing Israel in Falastin and her settler colonial policy was gaining ground in Jammu and Kashmir.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that the present onslaught was manifold and therefore it was duty of the free world and the UN to build pressure on India to change her colonial and religious policy and withdraw all Indian laws, fulfill her promise of a plebiscite as envisaged in the UN resolutions and resolve the core dispute peacefully according to the principles of the right of self-determination.
