Demo in London in front of US Embassy for release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui
LONDON/KARACHI, Oct 25 (SABAH): Civil society members held a peaceful protest demo in London in front of the US Embassy to demand an early release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui on humanitarian grounds.
As per details, civil society activists holding banners and placards gathered before the US Embassy in London and chanted slogans for an early release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
Former prisoner of Guantanamo Bay Moazzam Baig, speaking on the occasion, said that the Taliban leaders who were prisoners of Guantanamo Bay have now become ministers in the Afghanistan government. He said the American government has negotiated with them. He said the USA would get nothing by keeping DrAafia Siddiqui imprisoned. He said it is the time to end the ordeal of Aafia and release her immediately.
Dr. Laila Merhunnisa Shah said that Dr Aafia Siddiqui is the victim of injustice and she should be now released. She said DrAafia Siddiqui is a Pakistani. She said it is disgusting to think what the Pakistani government and society has done to DrAafia Siddiqui. She said it is shameful to think of oneself as a Pakistani.
Other speakers said that this is an absolute miscarriage of justice. They requested the US president Joe Biden to order the release of DrAafia on compassionate grounds.
