Federal Cabinet approves appointment of the chairperson & members of the examining body of the ‘National Council for Tibb’

ISLAMABAD, Oct 22 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said the 26th Constitutional Amendment passed by the parliament with two thirds majority will prove to be a milestone for economic and political stability and development of the country. 

Chairing federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday PM Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the delays faced by the people in legal matters, expressing the confidence that the constitutional amendment, envisaging establishment of constitutional benches, will provide prompt and easy justice to them.

The Prime Minister said the constitutional amendment is also accomplishment of the vision outlined in the Charter of Democracy.

He mentioned that the draft of the constitutional amendment was adopted after extensive deliberations with political parties, including those in the opposition. He said the amendment is reflective of the entire spirit of consultation.

The Prime Minister commended the Foreign Office, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Ministry of Interior, the armed forces of Pakistan and law enforcement agencies as well as CDA over their efforts for the successful conduct of the SCO heads of government meeting in the federal capital saying this has further improved the image of Pakistan.

As regards the visit of the Chinese Premier, the Prime Minister said this will further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

The Prime Minister also expressed satisfaction over the gradual improvement in the economic situation. He said the inflation has come down to 6.9 percent while policy rate has also decreased substantially and it is expected to decline further.

Voicing serious concerns over the relentless Israeli atrocities in Gaza and Lebanon, the Prime Minister called for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the bloodshed of innocent people.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said a comprehensive program has been developed to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and Lebanon. He urged the public to contribute to the Prime Minister’s relief fund.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern over the increasing cases of polio in Pakistan and sought a report on the matter.

He directed the authorities concerned to formulate a comprehensive strategy on an emergency basis to completely eradicate polio from the country.

During the meeting, the Federal Cabinet, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Human Rights, approved forwarding “The Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Bill, 2024” to the Cabinet Committee on Disposal of Legislative Cases.

This bill will apply to the Islamabad Capital Territory. The Federal Cabinet was informed that this bill will provide an institutional framework for prevention of domestic violence.

The Federal Cabinet approved the appointment of Lieutenant General Retired Moazzam Ejaz, Engineer Faheem Iqbal and Asim Shehryar Hussain as private members in the Board of Management of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission on the recommendation of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.

On the recommendation of Ministry of Law and Justice, the Federal Cabinet allowed the establishment of a Transmitting and Receiving Agency for processing applications under the Claims for Maintenance (Recovery Abroad) Ordinance, 1959.

The Federal Cabinet approved the appointment of the chairperson and members of the examining body of the “National Council for Tibb” on the recommendation of the Ministry of National Health Services.

The Federal Cabinet also approved the restructuring of the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan on the recommendation of the Ministry of National Health.
