PM faced no-confidence motion with emotional, vengeful & provocative manner rather than tolerant, democratic attitude: Liaqat Baloch

LAHORE, Mar 18 (SABAH): Addressing a meeting of the Political Committee in Lahore, Liaqat Baloch, Deputy Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Paksitan, said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has faced the no-confidence motion with emotional, vengeful and provocative manner rather than tolerant, democratic attitude. In the same way, the country is facing serious political, administrative and economic crises. In order to gain power, Imran Khan left an unholy alliance (Bhan Mati’s family) and gathered members for his own interests. Now, due to government failure, incompetence and arrogance, members are taking a new leap into the new situation.

Liaqat Baloch said that the entire responsibility for incompetence, failure and disgrace lies with Imran Khan and his followers. The Jamaat-e-Islami has a clear position that the current system has failed, the 2018 elections have been arranged and the coercive government has proved incompetent. After the success of the no-confidence motion, the newly formed Bhan Matti’s family (unholy alliance) will also not be able to improve the situation. Therefore, just as no-confidence is a constitutional method, early elections is also the constitutional, democratic and parliamentary method to put an end to the ongoing crises.

Liaqat Baloch, in reply to questions, said that the Leader of the Opposition Mian Shahbaz Sharif, during his meeting in Islamabad, had also presented the proposal of a coalition government of all parties except PTI to form a national government and get the country out of the crisis. In the aftermath of the no-confidence motion, a new choice is the way to go for the new elections and get fresh mandates from the people. Afterwards, the parties represented in the National Assembly can follow such a formula. But for now, such proposals are nothing but just good wishes.

Liaqat Baloch said that the growing crisis in the country was creating a sensational impact on the national economy, internal and external fronts. Corruption, intolerance, political extremism can be fatal to a parliamentary democracy. When the government is not running, the opposition parties have to use undesirable tactics in the number game, then the democratic parties should play a democratic role and approach the people for a new mandate. He clarified that marking World Islamophobia Day is good, but the real issue is that the United States, Europe must abandon the attitude of bias and prejudice against Islam and Muslims. Imran Khan would only be able to prove his good speeches on Islamophobia by recognizing the Taliban government in Afghanistan.
