Pak-Afghan trade ties are pre requisite for regional prosperity: NA Speaker


 ISLAMABAD, Nov 10 (SABAH): Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has said that Afghanistan is passing through a decisive phase in its history and it is incumbent upon Pakistan being its neighbor to support Afghanistan as peaceful and stable country. He said that strengthening trade ties between both countries would bring prosperity and it would also generate economic activities in the region. He expressed these views while addressing the “8th Focus Discussion on Pakistan and Afghanistan Economic Activity “organized by Pakistan Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce (PAJCCI) in Islamabad today.

Speaker National Assembly made it clear that Pakistan always desires to build relations with Afghanistan on the basis of   economic and trade engagements. He reiterated the importance of Pak Afghan trade route which carries a heritage of thousands of years. He informed the participants of a group constituted under the chairmanship of National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Moeed Yousaf and PM Special Envoy to Afghanistan Ambassador Sadiq khan. The group meets daily to address shortcomings in bilateral and transit trade between our two countries. 

Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has said that representatives of Chambers of commerce will be invited in forthcoming Pak Afghan Friendship Group meetings. He said that on receipt of complains parliamentary oversight mechanism was adopted to settle bilateral and transit trade issues. Thousands of stuck afghan bound containers were cleared.  He also said that a new visa policy was implemented for Afghanistan with facilities for students, patients and all walks of life.

 Speaker National Assembly made it clear that Pakistan wishes to build relations based on economic engagements with Afghanistan and all other countries in the region and beyond. 

He reiterated the importance of Pak Afghan trade route which carries a heritage of thousands of years. He informed the participants of a group constituted under the chairmanship of National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Moeed Yousaf and PM Special Envoy to Afghanistan Ambassador Sadiq khan. The group meets daily to address shortcomings in bilateral and transit trade between our two countSpeaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser called upon the traders to submit recommendation to the parliament for promoting trade between the two countries. He said that Pakistan and Afghanistan have mutual interests and challenges that require collective and joint efforts.    

President PAJCCI, Pakistan, Jawed Bilwani while welcoming Hon’ble Speaker National Assembly, Asad Qaiser applauded him for his support and facilitation of Pakistan Afghanistan Bilateral and Transit Trade.  He added that potential of Pak-Afghan Trade is in billions. It can benefit the entire region from South to Central Asia that counts 72% of world population connected through road.
