All set for D-Chowk, Islamabad sit-in for release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

KARACHI, Sep 18(SABAH): Aafia Movement Spokesman Muhammad Ayub on Wednesday said that a peaceful protest sit-in led by Global Aafia Movement chairperson Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui would be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at D-Chowk, Islamabad against the cruel imprisonment of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui and in related to the global protest movement against it.

He said in 2016 when Nawaz Sharif was the Prime Minister of Pakistan a government letter was required to seek the release of Aafia and now 8 years later when his brother Shehbaz Sharif is the Prime Minister of Pakistan the same letter from the government is required for the release of the daughter of the nation.

He said the supporters of Dr. Aafia are busy in preparation for the D-Chowk sit-in. Different religious, political, social and human rights organizations when contacted have assured their full support to the sit-in. He said people from different cities are contacting and welcoming the sit-in and assuring their participation in it.

He said previous evening a meeting was held to review the arrangements of the sit-in.
