Hafiz Naeemur Rehman calls for dialogue among all political stakeholders to restore peace in the country
PESHAWAR, Sep 13 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has called for dialogue among all political stakeholders to restore peace in the country.
“The law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkwa is at its worst. Political parties must set aside their differences and come together for the sake of peace. If they fail to engage in dialogue, the situation will only worsen,” Hafiz Naeemur Rehman stated while addressing a gathering in Peshawar after inaugurating a membership camp.
He also offered Jamaat-e-Islami’s platform for facilitating dialogue, expressing JI’s readiness to act as a bridge between all parties to promote peace.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman stressed that if the civil government in KP is taking responsibility for maintaining internal security, the army should cooperate fully. He urged against creating unnecessary divisions between the police and the army on matters of internal security.
He further emphasized that the people of Pakistan desire peace, employment, and access to health and education facilities. The country could progress and provide relief to its citizens if all institutions operated within the boundaries defined by the constitution, he said.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman warned that if those in positions of power do not abide by the law, it is unreasonable to expect ordinary citizens to do so. He criticized the ruling elite for their lack of concern for public welfare, accusing them of intentionally sowing discord among the masses to maintain their control. He noted that the colonial legacy has persisted for seven decades, with the same colonial mindset governing the country. These elites, he argued, function as puppets of foreign powers, inviting external interference in national affairs. He called for the nation to unite in order to free itself from this control, stating that this goal can only be achieved if the people stand together for their rights.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also highlighted Jamaat-e-Islami’s ongoing membership campaign across the country, announcing plans to form public committees upon its completion. He mentioned that the party would then move into the second phase of its peaceful resistance movement.
He called for an end to the unfair taxation imposed on the common man, salaried individuals, and traders, urging the public to join JI’s movement to secure their rights.
Haifz Naeemur Rehman reiterated his demand for a revision of the agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), accusing the ruling elite of profiting from these companies through capacity charges at the expense of the public. He argued that these private firms are the primary cause of the continuous hikes in electricity tariffs, which are draining the resources of the people.
He concluded by emphasizing that Jamaat-e-Islami has already initiated a movement to dismantle the corrupt system and its enablers, noting the overwhelming public support for the party’s membership campaign.
