MNA Sehar Kamran raises serious concerns regarding the fire incidents at Sunday Bazaar, Islamabad
ISLAMABAD, Sep 11 (SABAH): Pakistan People’s Party Member National Assembly Sehar Kamran has raised serious concerns regarding the fire incidents at Sunday Bazaar, Islamabad, demanding immediate compensation for the affected stall owners and a thorough investigation into the cause of the fires.
Speaking in the National Assembly, MNA Sehar Kamran highlighted the government’s failure to provide timely financial support to the victims, despite two months having passed since the latest incident.
Sehar Kamran inquired about the total number of fire incidents at Sunday Bazaar, the estimated financial loss incurred, and the status of compensation for the affected stall owners. She also questioned the measures taken to prevent such incidents in the future, expressing disappointment that most actions remain merely on paper with no concrete steps being implemented.
During a supplementary question in the National Assembly, Sehar Kamran voiced her concerns over the lack of accountability and transparency from the government. She demanded detailed information on the number of fire extinguishers and fire balls currently available in the bazaar, their last physical inspection date by the relevant authority, and confirmation that these safety devices are valid and have not expired.
The absence of the Interior Minister further compounded the issue as Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar failed to respond to MNA Kamran’s questions.
“The lack of response and action from the concerned Minister is deeply troubling. The affected stall owners have been left without any financial support or clarity on future preventive measures,” Sehar Kamran stated. “It is the government’s responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens, and I urge immediate action to address these concerns and provide the necessary support to the victims of the fire.”
Sehar Kamran called upon the government to prioritize the safety and security of all citizens by implementing effective measures to prevent future incidents and ensure swift compensation for those affected.
