MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 31 (SABAH): Emir Hizbul Mujahideen and Chairman of United Jihad Council Syed Salahuddin Ahmed has paid tribute to the leader of Tehreek Azadi Kashmir Shaheed Syed Ali Shah Geelani and said that Imam Syed Ali Geelani, whom no one could buy, is the title and symbol of Tehreek Azadi Kashmir. He said Geelani’s life was continuous struggle and a beacon of light for the freedom fighters of the whole world. He said the great leader spent every moment of his life for the exaltation of Islam and the freedom of Kashmir. He said Geelani’s every act was for the people of Kashmir and will remain for them.
These views were expressed by Syed Salahuddin Ahmed while addressing a prestigious ceremony called on the third anniversary of Syed Ali Geelani. He said that Syed Ali Geelani lived a very fearless and determined life.
He said, “Geelani was never mesmerized by the tactics of Indian colonialism and despair never came close to him. He was far away from despair and hopelessness like a believer. He had the same faith in the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir as the sun is believed to rise from the east. He held the high position of this belief until the last moment of his age.”
He said, “History is a witness that Syed Ali Geelani thwarted every trick of Indian colonialism and firmly stuck to his position. Syed Ali Geelani spent a major part of his life under prison and house arrest. Various restrictions were imposed on their movement. His passport was canceled and he was prevented from going abroad. The people of Jammu and Kashmir were ready to lay down their lives for him. Syed Ali Geelani was considered the most popular leader of the ongoing resistance for three decades.”
Syed Salahuddin Ahmed said that Geelani was a dedicated, courageous and extraordinary person with iron determination and nerves, who did not hesitate to make great sacrifices for what he believed to be true. On September 1, 2021, he received martyrdom in custody.
