Instead of wasting time in repeated negotiation periods, efforts should be made to stop war:  Hamas

GAZA, Aug 12 (SABAH): The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has urged the mediating countries to try to stop the war instead of wasting time in repeated negotiation periods. Hamas has maintained that repeated rounds of negotiations have become a game.

The Israeli state is committed to the genocidal plan of the Palestinians and wants to buy time to continue the war instead of a cease-fire. The statement said that the Jamaat has already shown all possible flexibility regarding the ceasefire talks and is still ready for all possible cooperation for the ceasefire efforts.

It said we already passed through many negotiation periods, we worked for the goals and interests of our people. It took all the necessary flexibility and positive judgment to stop their bloodshed and stop the genocide against them.

The statement said that the group showed flexibility in exchanging prisoners, providing relief to the people of Gaza, returning the displaced and rebuilding properties destroyed by the aggression. Hamas on May 6, 2024 agreed to the proposal of the arbitrators. It said we welcomed President Biden’s announcement on May 31, 2024 and UN Security Council Resolution 2735 in this regard but still the massacre continued.

The statement said that Israel is not serious about a permanent ceasefire and its aggressive behavior is practical proof of destroying peace efforts. The statement explained that Hamas responded positively to the peace proposals presented on July 2, 2024, but on the other hand, the Israeli state also failed it by imposing new conditions.

Hamas warned that after the announcement of the tripartite statement, a massacre and a heinous crime was committed against the displaced people at al-Tabayin school in al-Darj neighborhood of Gaza while they were offering Fajr prayers.

Hamas urged countries to mediate and pressurize the Israeli state to accept their ceasefire proposals and try to stop the war instead of wasting time in repeated rounds of negotiations. The statement said that repeated negotiation periods divert attention from Israeli crimes of mass killing of Palestinians.
