Negotiations between Jamaat-e-Islami & govt continue

ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI, August 07 (SABAH): Negotiations between Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and the government are continuing, but no progress has been made yet. The sit-in organizers have started preparations to expand the scope of protest. According to the details, Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi contacted Naib Emir Jamaat-e-Islami negotiation team head Liaqat Baloch and discussed about future negotiations.

It should be remembered that there was a stalemate between the government and the teams of Jamaat-e-Islami in the beginning after two rounds of negotiations, after which Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Engineer Haifz Naeemur Rehman had to say that Jamaat-e-Islami is looking for a government committee regarding its ten demands. The government has not communicated its final stand due to which the committee’s search is still ongoing.

After this statement of Emir Jamaat-e-Islami, the members of the government team became active and immediately contacted Liaqat Baloch, Naib Emir and committee head on the instructions of the Prime Minister. Fourth round of talks between the government and Jamaat-e-Islami is underway whereas preparations for the march towards Islamabad were also started. Liaqat Baloch told “SABAH” when contacted about the talks that the talks are going on, we want the government to clearly inform us about our demands. He said the government has nothing to refute our arguments, they don’t even give a clear answer, adding it is not possible to refuse the talks, so the sit-in is also going on with the talks.
