Shabir Ahmed Shah urges Kashmiris to observe 5th August a black day

SRINAGAR, August 02 (SABAH): Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader and Chairman Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Ahmed Shah has appealed to the people of Kashmir to observe 5th August as a black day to convey a strong message to the world that Kashmiris do not accept India’s hegemony and its illegal control over the territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a message from Tihar Jail, the incarcerated leader, termed 5th August 2019 move by the Indian government as one of the worst precedents of Indian colonialism.

“Stripping Jammu and Kashmir region of its nationhood status and reducing its status to a union territory was a humiliating attack on our identity”, Shabir Ahmed Shah said.

The move, he said, was also a brazen violation of the international law and the UN resolutions that strictly bar the occupying state from taking any unilateral decision.

Reiterating Kashmiris’ pledge to take the ongoing struggle to its logical end, the DFP founder said that India must bear in mind the fact that its barbarism and brutal suppression cannot deter Kashmiris from pursuing their cherished goal of freedom.

He expressed the optimism that the day was not far off when India’s imperialistic presence in Kashmir would come to an end and the region would be free from the Indian bondage.
