JI Karachi leaders congratulate newly elected media body members

KARACHI, Mar 07 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chief Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, Incharge Media Cell Osama Razi and Secretary Information Zahid Askari congratulated newly elected office-bearers of the Association of Electronic Media Editors and News Directors (AEMEND).

The JI leaders in a joint statement on Monday said that the courageous media leaders came forward to lead the industry at a time when the journalism and the freedom of expression both were being targeted. The JI supports the media fraternity in struggle for protection of the freedom of journalism, expression and civic rights, the joint statement read.

They further said that the JI supports journalists community and condemns the black law aimed at controlling and suppressing the media.

Senior journalist Azhar Abbas has been elected as the president of the body, Ayaz Khan senior vice president, Amad Yousaf vice president, Hafiz Taiq Mahmoud General Secretary, Mohammad Usman and Mian Thahir joint secretaries, Shahab Mahmood finance secretary, while Zahid Mazhar, Farhan Malik, Rashid Mahmood, Muhammad Malik, Habib Akram, Fawad Khursheed, Owais Baloch, Mubarak Ali and Noshad Ali of the digital media elected as members of the executive committee.
