Meeting of British High Commissioner Jane Marriott with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE, July 29 (SABAH): British High Commissioner Jane Marriott has met Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and discussed the promotion of mutual cooperation in the meeting.

During the meeting, it was agreed to increase cooperation in education, health and other sectors. Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Additional Secretary Sara Hayat and others were also present on the occasion. Head of British High Commission Lahore Office Clarastrand Hodge and other diplomatic officials also attended the meeting.

Speaking on this occasion, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz said that all possible measures are being taken to protect women and children, adding the solarization project will be started in Punjab from August 14. She said the people are being provided with solar panels for economic relief, adding British companies will be welcomed in the project. She said that transparency and merit implementation will be ensured in the bidding of solar panel project, adding all possible measures are being taken to eliminate environmental pollution in Punjab. She added efforts are being made to make Punjab the biggest digital hub of South Asia.

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott praised the implementation of the Sikh Marriage Act in Punjab and termed the Child Marriage Bill as a worthy initiative. Jane Marriott said that the government’s initiatives regarding the protection of minorities in Punjab are commendable, adding the Punjab government is taking unique initiatives regarding women and children. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also appreciated the welfare services of Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office in Punjab.
