As per directions of the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, CDA establishes climate change fund

ISLAMABAD, July 14 (SABAH): On the direction of Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, Capital Development Authority (CDA) has established an Climate Change Fund, a first in the history of Islamabad, to mitigate the affects of climate change in the ICT. CDA has set up a special fund under the Climate Change Initiative to combat environmental degradation.

Interior Minister commended Chairman CDA Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa and his team for taking the lead in establishing the fund. “The CDA team deserves accolades for this initiative,” he said. Under this initiative, a “Carbon Credit Program” will also be launched in the city. The program aims to plant 4 to 5 million trees in designated areas spanning 2000-10,000 kanals. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that the designated areas for tree plantation include new sectors, avenues, and other open spaces. Additionally, the “Margalla Hills Fund” has also been approved for recreational spots in Margalla Hills.

The fund will designate 1.5 percent of the revenue generated from these spots for the protection and beautification of Margalla Hills.
