There will be a sit-in in Islamabad, people will not leave the place until their demands are accepted: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

LAHORE, June 10 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that cruel tariff, slab system and IPPs agreements should be terminated, people should be given direct relief not solar system.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views while addressing the public mobilization camp at Ichra and talking to the media. Secretary General JI Ameerul Azim, Secretary Information Qaisar Sharif, Deputy General Secretary Sheikh Usman Farooq, Emir Punjab Central Javed Kasuri and Emir Lahore Ziauddin Ansari Advocate were also with him.

He said when PML-N comes to power, it starts new business ventures in the name of big projects, adding that Asif Ali Zardari is the representative of landlords. He said on July 12, they will hold an exemplary sit-in in Islamabad and people will not leave the place until their demands are accepted.

He termed the permission of tapping citizens’ phones as a violation of Article 9 of the Constitution and fundamental human rights and warned the government not to violate the Constitution, this move is an insult to Pakistanis. He said even the judges in the country are not safe, now this practice being given legal status which is why they reject it.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that camps have been set up all over the country to ensure full public participation in the sit-in. He said he congratulates Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore for setting up a camp in the city. He said Jamaat-e-Islami has started preparations of the sit-in and on the other side, statements have started to come.

He said that people do not get relief while the government starts giving billions of advertisements for fake publicity. He said the government of PDM-2 is going on, during PDM-1, Shehbaz Sharif had announced to give free electricity up to two hundred units, advertisements were released but they backed down on the pressure of IMF.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that cruel taxes were imposed on the salaried class in the budget, adding people’s pockets were robbed by dozens of taxes including electricity bills. He said that billions are paid to IPPs in the name of capacity charges.
