Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expresses willingness to provide the JI platform for dialogue if the political parties are genuinely interested
LAHORE, June 25(SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has expressed willingness to provide the JI platform for dialogue if the political parties are genuinely interested.
Speaking to bureau chiefs of various TV channels at Mansoorah on Tuesday, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said the PPP, the PML-N, and the MQM came to power through electoral fraud. “Those rejected completely by voters in the polls managed to assume complete power.”
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman mentioned his refusal to accept provincial assembly seat from Karachi, stating that he could not participate in the assembly based on deceit. Citing former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Haiz Naeemur Rehman challenged him to relinquish the seat, which the latter won through rigging, if Sharif truly champions democracy.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announced protests in front of the offices of electricity distribution companies on June 28 (Friday).
He said the JI has already launched the national resistance movement by holding countrywide protest demonstrations against costly electricity, prolonged load shedding and anti-people budget on previous Sunday. Land reforms, cheap energy, food security, rights of farmers and election through proportional representative were among the agenda items of the movement, he said. The peaceful movement, he vowed, on public issues would continue with full strength.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed surprise over the announcement of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam in the apex committee meeting of the National Action Plan (NAP) without consulting the parliament and political leadership.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman emphasized that the people of Pakistan, especially those in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, can no longer afford military operations. The country, he argued, needs political stability rather than military interventions, highlighting the failure of past operations from Balochistan operation to the recent ones—a history of seven decades. The JI Emir pointed out that the region is paying the price for the so-called war on terror led by the United States for its own interests. He called for Pakistan and its friendly countries, particularly Afghanistan and China, to establish peace in the region through dialogue.
To a question, he condemned Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for handcuffing doctors following the fire incident at Sahiwal Hospital, calling it fascist act and an intolerable disgrace to professionals. He said the JI was not providing blind support to doctors rather wanted transparent inquiry into the incident and support legitimate demands of the medics. To another question, he said the JI and PTI have similarity in stance on election rigging and Form 45.
