A just & immediate solution to the Kashmir problem is very important for world peace: Ghulam Muhammad Safi
ISLAMABAD, June 23 (SABAH): Convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan Ghulam Muhammad Safi has that the world is celebrating the International Widows Day today while Kashmiri women are being persecuted by the Indian forces in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
“There are more than 2,000 semi-widows in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir whose husbands have been forcibly disappeared by the Indian Army. Nothing can be said about whether they are alive or dead. This situation has made life worse than death for these women. Kashmiri women live in the shadow of war and experience the bitter experience of widowhood more than any other woman in the world” Ghulam Muhammad Safi said in a statement issued on Sunday from Islamabad.
Ghulam Muhammad Safi said that Kashmiri women are the worst victims of Indian state terrorism in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Thousands of women have lost their husbands, brothers and sons because they were martyred by Indian soldiers or disappeared in custody. The world should not forget the trauma of Kashmiri widows and semi-widows. Today is a day to create awareness about the plight of Kashmiri widows and semi-widows.
According to a report, more than 23,000 women were widowed in Indian state terrorism since January 1989, while their husbands were martyred by Indian soldiers and police personnel. The Secretary Generals of United Nations Organization (UNO), Human Rights Council and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have urged India to ensure the safety of women and citizens in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and also to resolve the Kashmir issue according to the resolutions of the United Nations because a just and immediate solution to the Kashmir issue is very important for regional and world peace.
